King & Country DD346 FFI Gendarme: A Police Uniform in the Liberation Story

The figure carries two kinds of identity

The established uniform communicates an official profession. The FFI presentation connects it with the armed forces of the interior during liberation. Keeping both descriptions together is more informative than labeling the figure merely French or merely civilian.

The rifle is held across the front while the body remains upright. That settled posture makes the gendarme a useful contrast with the more active Maquis figures.

A broader collection than landing troops

DD346 helps the D-Day catalog extend into the liberation of towns and cities. It can appear beside DD347’s captured German officers or the civilian-clothed Resistance members, while each release retains its own contents and code.

The helmet, blue uniform, armband and rifle are the key identifying combination. Together they make a distinctive model whose interest lies in the meeting of public authority and resistance during France’s liberation.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived DD346 product record lists a release date of July 2021. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability.
