The Operation ToyBox catalog · DD338(B)
The open mouth of DD338(B) does much of the storytelling. His head turns away from the direction of the Sten held across his body, suggesting an NCO trying to reach the men around him rather than concentrating on a single target.

The Sten tells a manufacturing story
The Slovak Military History Museum’s Sten record explains the emphasis on simple construction and economical production. The weapon’s plain tubular appearance was connected to wartime manufacturing needs.
That gives this small piece of equipment an interesting contrast with the much more traditional revolver carried by the neighboring officer. The product description identifies the sergeant’s weapon as a Mark II Sten.
Read the whole gesture
The body remains upright while the face turns and the hands control the gun low across the front. The expression supplies urgency without requiring an invented quotation or a named historical sergeant.
The sand base places this version alongside the B-suffix British beach infantry. DD338(G) is the corresponding grass-base issue and deserves a separate label.
Give him someone to address
A nearby advancing rifleman makes the shout feel connected to an action. Avoid placing the sergeant so every other figure looks away from him unless that confusion is the intended scene.
His collecting identity combines the open mouth, turned head, Sten and pale base. Together they distinguish a leadership figure whose strongest feature is communication rather than a firing posture.
Release record and collecting notes
Sager’s archived DD338(B) product record lists a release date of August 2021. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
