The Operation ToyBox catalog · WS254

WS254 leans forward with one arm pointing outward and the rifle held behind the other side of his body. The deep bend turns a simple pointing gesture into something more immediate than a formal officer directing a parade.

The figure belongs to a specific unit subject

The Bundesarchiv’s Handschar overview records the division’s Nazi recruitment context and war crimes during operations in the Balkans. That history is part of interpreting this Bosnian Waffen-SS figure.

The red fez is a conspicuous uniform feature, but it should not become the whole explanation of the subject.

The pointing arm creates a destination

The extended hand carries the viewer’s attention away from the body. A nearby figure can appear to receive the direction, while the NCO’s bent torso gives the exchange a sense of urgency.

The original description identifies an NCO making a point but does not supply an actual order or a named historical incident. The pose can remain expressive without invented dialogue.

The rifle is held out of the gesture’s way

The weapon occupies the opposite side of the figure, leaving the pointing hand and face visually clear. The two sides create a wider composition than the more upright riflemen in the group.

A front-quarter angle reveals that separation. Seen from a narrow side view, the arm can merge with the body and lose its meaning.

WS254 adds a leadership gesture to the December 2013 Handschar releases. Its value for identification is the combination of low torso, extended hand and rifle carried behind the main action.

The figure is an anonymous sculpted interpretation, not a portrait whose personal conduct can be reconstructed from the pose. Preserve the full code and clear reference image so the specific miniature can be discussed accurately within its broader historical setting.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived WS254 product record lists a release date of December 2013. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
