The Operation ToyBox catalog · WS243

The low shoulders and deeply bent torso make WS243 look different from an upright running soldier. His rifle stays close across the front while the free arm hangs lower, helping the figure read as a hurried movement under a reduced silhouette.

The short title needs the full pose

The archived description identifies Running Rifleman A and emphasizes his bent-over movement. The A is part of the product title; the set code remains WS243.

The neighboring WS244 is the B figure. They are separately cataloged men, not two alternative letters for the same boxed release.

The equipment follows the body

The pack and rolled equipment rise above the bent back, giving the upper outline more texture. The rifle and lowered arm create different diagonals beneath the shoulders.

That combination makes a side-quarter view useful. It reveals how far the man leans and prevents the weapon from disappearing against the torso.

Compare the two runners

WS244 keeps both hands on his rifle and carries his body differently. Seen together, the figures make movement look uneven and individual rather than like a row of copied strides.

A low figure such as WS241’s gunner can provide a stationary point beside them. The relationship is a display interpretation; the release does not name a particular assault or unit.

WS243’s collecting interest lies in the strongly compressed pose. It adds another height and line of movement to the infantry collection without requiring a large multi-figure set.

The rifle, low free hand and equipment above the back are useful identification details. Establish them in a seller’s photograph before relying on a generic title of running German soldier, especially where the two lettered riflemen are offered together or have lost their original boxes.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived WS243 product record lists a release date of October 2013 and a retirement date of February 2021. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
