The Operation ToyBox catalog · DD331
Four green berets immediately give DD331 a different appearance from the helmeted American Rangers nearby in the catalog. The weapons are varied too: two Stens, a Lee-Enfield rifle and a prone Bren gunner form the release’s four-man composition.

French troops within a British commando formation
The Ordre de la Libération’s educational account explains that the French naval commandos were attached to British No. 4 Commando before the Normandy landings and wore British-style commando clothing with their own insignia.
The combination of French identity and British equipment is therefore central to the subject, rather than a mismatch in the model range.
The Bren lowers one corner of the group
The prone gunner keeps the automatic weapon near the ground. The other three figures occupy higher positions, producing several levels within a compact set.
The rifle extends farther forward as a thin line, while the Stens create shorter shapes close to the men. Those differences make the figures easier to distinguish once the shared berets have drawn the eye.
Two related releases expand the story
DD330 depicts Kieffer, while DD332 adds another four commandos with a different mix of movement and firing positions. Neither is part of the original DD331 contents.
Placed together, they can form a varied group without making every man repeat the same stance. A little separation preserves the individual faces and weapons.
DD331 belongs in the D-Day collection as a distinctly French four-man subject within the Allied landing story. Its historical interest is the relationship between national identity, naval origins and service alongside British commandos.
For identification, account for the two Sten figures, rifleman and prone Bren gunner. That combination is more precise than a general listing for four green-beret soldiers.
Release record and collecting notes
Sager’s archived DD331 product record lists a release date of September 2019. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
