King & Country WS223-2 Tank Commanders — Set No. 2
King & Country WS223-2; manufacturer reference image.

The Operation ToyBox catalog · WS223-2

The two men in WS223-2 lean from tank hatches in the reference image, but the turrets are display props. This release supplies the half-body commander figures: one in black Wehrmacht Panzer clothing, the other in a Waffen-SS camouflage jacket.

WS223-2 comprises the two half-body commander figures. The photographed tank turrets are separate models. Manufacturer reference image © King & Country.

Two uniforms, two different impressions

The black-uniformed figure wears a side cap and rests his arms across the hatch edge. The other combines a patterned wraparound jacket with a black field cap, creating a more broken-up shape above the armor.

Those service identifications come from the release description. Both men belong to the WS catalog, but the series prefix should not erase the distinction between the uniforms represented.

The hatch becomes a place for a person

A small commander can change how an entire vehicle is read. The eye moves from the turret and gun to a face, hands and clothing, giving the machine an occupied appearance.

WS223-2 was offered as an alternative to commanders already supplied with armored models. The original sales description suggests broad compatibility, but a photograph in one hatch does not establish a universal fit across every tank or manufacturer.

Compare the first commander pair

WS223-1 combines black clothing with a pale winter smock. Set No. 2 instead uses black and camouflage, making the two accessory releases easy to compare by clothing rather than by a generic tank-crew title.

Collectors should account for both men. One figure installed in a separately sold tank is only part of this two-figure release.

The pair’s value is the ability to vary the human detail above a turret. The uniform contrast supplies the interest, while the half-body format explains why the illustrated vehicles are useful context rather than included contents.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived WS223-2 product record lists a release date of April 2013 and a retirement date of August 2017. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
