The Operation ToyBox catalog · WS078-01

WS078-01 brings a pale concrete bunker and its defenders into one compact composition. The reference photograph shows the piece from two directions, revealing both the fighting positions and the rear access; it does not show two separate bunkers.

The suffix survives in the archive

Sager lists this as Atlantic Wall Set (K11), and Sierra’s older store index separately records WS078 and WS078-01. The archived description and photographs overlap closely with the base-code WS078 listing.

Those records support preserving the suffixed catalog entry, but do not establish a different sculpt or paint scheme. This article therefore documents the K11-coded offering without inventing a physical distinction that the available references cannot demonstrate.

Three defenders, two different positions

The description specifies a two-man MG42 team and a turbaned Free India Legion figure with an MG34 in the circular, Tobruk-style position at the side. The latter is a partial figure occupying the emplacement, rather than a third full standing soldier.

The Legion attribution describes service on Germany’s side. The turban should not be read as identifying an Allied Indian Army position merely because the broader D-Day story also includes troops from across the British Empire.

The bunker is a scene, not just a backdrop

The stepped walls, curved side position and visible rear opening create several points of interest. The figures give the structure scale, while the polystone body supplies the impression of substantial concrete.

Its historical theme is a coastal machine-gun position. The model does not establish a surveyed copy of a particular surviving fortification or a named garrison.

For collecting, keep the complete code and any box label in the record. WS078-01 is a documented archive entry; the shared imagery means the suffix alone should not be used to promise a visibly different bunker from WS078.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived WS078-01 product record lists a retirement date of May 2010. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
