The Operation ToyBox catalog · WS239

The peaked cap is the first surprise in WS239. Beneath it, the officer lies prone and aims a rifle, occupying much the same ground-level space as the ordinary infantrymen around him.

The weapon changes the usual officer silhouette

Many command figures are recognizable through a raised arm, binoculars or a pistol. Here, the long rifle and fully lowered body take priority, while the cap preserves the officer identity.

King & Country presents him taking his place in the forward line. The record does not provide a name or a documented photograph behind the sculpt, so he remains an anonymous officer subject.

The figure rewards a low viewpoint

From directly overhead, the equipment and back can dominate. A lower angle reveals the face, cap and relationship between the shoulder and rifle, making the intended action clearer.

The extended legs also matter. They give the miniature a long horizontal footprint rather than the compact outline of a kneeling figure.

Compare command with participation

WS240’s NCO is also prone but visibly shouting. WS233 gives an order with his hand. WS239 instead places the officer within the same physical activity as the riflemen.

The three interpretations make a useful collecting comparison: leadership can be represented by a gesture, an expression or a figure participating alongside others. The sculpts communicate those ideas without needing invented dialogue.

This release’s distinctive combination is the peaked cap and aimed rifle at ground level. It adds variation to the infantry range while retaining an immediately legible action.

When examining an example, check that the cap, rifle and extended body can all be seen in the seller’s photographs. A distant overhead image may hide the very details that distinguish WS239 from another prone soldier.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived WS239 product record lists a release date of October 2013 and a retirement date of February 2022. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
