The Operation ToyBox catalog · WS227

A crate full of red and green apples fills the front of WS227. The soldier holds it with both arms while his rifle stays slung, making the civilian produce the most conspicuous object in the miniature.

The title should be taken seriously

King & Country presents the figure as a companion to WS221’s pig carrier, using a joke about the meal the two loads might make. The word thief also identifies the darker side of the scene: food is being taken from local resources.

The U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum’s military-history account places food seizure within the wider coercive occupation of Soviet territory. The miniature does not reconstruct a documented orchard incident, but that context belongs beside the light tone of the original description.

The crate changes the soldier’s silhouette

The rectangular box sits across the torso, hiding some equipment while leaving the helmeted face above it. The bright fruit contrasts with the subdued uniform and brown wood.

The slung rifle keeps the military setting visible even though the man’s hands are occupied by the load. It is that combination that separates the release from a generic market or farm figure.

Compare the two food carriers

WS221 carries an animal under one arm; WS227 uses both arms around a crate. Together they offer different shapes and colors within the same manufacturer-created theme.

The pair can be discussed as depictions of soldiers taking civilian food, without inventing the identity or fate of the people from whom it came.

WS227’s collecting interest lies in the detailed fruit, wooden container and carrying posture. Its historical value improves when the title’s implication remains visible, giving the figure a more complete reading than a simple joke about a camp dinner.

Keep the crate and slung weapon in view so both parts of that story can be seen together.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived WS227 product record lists a release date of January 2014 and a retirement date of April 2016. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
