The Operation ToyBox catalog · DD292
A nurse leans toward a seated, bandaged GI in DD292. The scene is a small act of care, but its name records a story from the collecting community itself: King & Country created the set in memory of Treefrog Treasures co-founder Shannon Reuss.
Why a nurse was the right tribute
Treefrog’s account of the set describes the collaboration between Pete Reuss and Andy C. Neilson. Shannon’s earlier training and work as a registered nurse in veterans’ hospitals led to the idea of a wartime nursing scene.
The figure is a commemorative portrayal in Second World War clothing, not a claim that Shannon herself served during that war. That distinction preserves the actual reason for the tribute.
The hands make the relationship visible
The wounded man sits on a wooden box, holding a cup while the nurse attends to the bandage around his head. Red crosses on her helmet, armband and medical bag establish her role.
The two different heights bring the faces close together. The set feels complete because the action passes directly between the figures rather than toward an unseen object beyond the base.
A note on the uniform terminology
Some release wording combines WAC with Army nurse. The Army’s history of the Women’s Army Corps distinguishes WAC employment from the professional nursing organization. Army nurse is the clearer description of the role represented here.
A limited edition with a personal purpose
The first edition was announced as 300 sets. Its significance lies in the memorial collaboration, not an assumed investment value.
DD292 belongs in both the medical collection and the history of the hobby. The bandaging scene remembers a real person through work that mattered in her life, giving the two-figure composition a particularly specific reason to exist.
Release record and collecting notes
Sager’s archived DD292 product record lists a release date of September 2016. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
