The Operation ToyBox catalog · DD290

DD290 lays out a miniature equipment comparison: three American small arms, three British weapons and two U.S. Army jerricans. With no figures holding them, their shapes become the subject in their own right.

Read the two groups separately

The manufacturer lists a Browning Automatic Rifle, a Thompson and an M1 Garand on the American side. The British selection comprises a Bren, a Lee-Enfield rifle and a Sten.

The pair of containers completes the eight-item arrangement shown in the reference photograph. It is worth counting the pieces when assessing a loose set, because the smaller weapons can disappear easily in a crowded sales image.

Different outlines suggest different roles

The larger BAR and Bren make a useful visual comparison with the shorter submachine guns. The conventional rifle shapes add another contrast, allowing the set to function as a small display of equipment alongside the painted figures.

The release groups the weapons by the armies with which they are associated here. That is a collecting arrangement, not a claim that every type was used exclusively by one nation throughout the war.

Accessories can suggest work in progress

A few pieces placed near a vehicle, table or resting group can imply equipment being set down or sorted. The jerricans add another kind of object beside the weapons and help connect the selection with a support-area scene.

Use the accessories selectively. Spreading every item across a small base can make the scene resemble an inventory photograph, which is useful for identification but may be less convincing as a moment in a larger display.

A complete set has its own appeal

Kept together, DD290 is a compact comparison of familiar Allied equipment. Separated into a diorama, it supplies details that change what the surrounding figures appear to be doing.

The catalog’s key identification points are the six named weapons and two containers. Clear photographs of all eight pieces provide a better starting point than a general listing for spare Allied guns.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived DD290 product record lists a release date of February 2016. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
