King & Country AL009 Turkish Soldier Kneeling Firing

The Operation ToyBox catalog · AL009

AL009 brings the rifle down to a lower level. One knee touches the ground, the other supports the crouched body, and the soldier’s cheek settles against the stock. It is a compact pose, but the long horizontal weapon gives it a definite direction.

The early firing pair

Placed near the standing AL008, this figure makes the difference in height immediately apparent. Both have pale uniforms, brown equipment and similar headgear, so the contrast comes primarily from the body position. The two figures belong visually together without looking duplicated.

The open space beneath the forward arm is an attractive part of the sculpt. Viewed from a slight angle, the bent knee, elbow and rifle form a series of small changes in direction. A photograph taken only from above can flatten those details.

Fortified Beersheba

The Australian War Memorial’s account of the battle places Ottoman defenses at Tel el Saba within the wider fighting on 31 October 1917. The day involved infantry and mounted formations on several approaches before the well-known final charge.

A kneeling rifleman is a useful reminder of that larger setting. The figure is not identified as a particular individual or a proven member of one exact trench garrison; it supplies an Ottoman infantry subject for a historically framed display.

Low cover and clear sightlines

A shallow earthwork or a few low sandbags suit the figure’s height better than a high wall. Leave enough of the torso and hands exposed for a viewer to understand what he is doing. The projecting rifle also needs space beyond the edge of any neighboring base.

For a small collection, AL009 pairs naturally with AL010, the kneeling loading soldier. One man aims while the other attends to his weapon. That simple contrast introduces time and activity into a display, giving the infantry line a more convincing rhythm than an uninterrupted sequence of identical firing poses.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived AL009 product record lists a release date of May 2010 and a retirement date of April 2014. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
