The Operation ToyBox catalog · WS157

WS157 stands upright with a rifle at his shoulder, its brown stock rising beside the black jacket and steel helmet. The closed, formal posture makes him the stillest of the three neighbouring Panzer guard subjects.

Spot the difference before reading the label

WS156 stands at ease with the rifle down beside his boot. WS158 carries a shouldered rifle while taking a step. WS157 combines the shoulder position with a stationary stance at attention.

That combination identifies the release more reliably than a general listing for a black-uniformed German guard. Look at both the weapon and the legs when comparing a dealer’s photograph.

Formal posture gives a display structure

An at-attention figure creates a strong vertical line. The rifle extends that line beyond the shoulder, while the helmet gives it a rounded cap.

The pose can suggest an inspection, a guarded entrance or a pause beside a parked vehicle. The short archive entry gives no particular event, so the setting remains a display interpretation rather than a reconstruction of a named parade.

Armoured personnel beyond the hatch

The broader 2010 Panzer figure sequence includes men carrying supplies, officers talking and guards standing or marching. Seen together, they bring the people associated with armoured service out onto the ground.

That makes WS157 a useful historical display subject even without a tank immediately beside him. Uniform, weapon and posture communicate a duty within a military organization, while the WS overview supplies the wider context of the manufacturer’s German wartime range.

Photograph the shoulder side as well

A straight frontal view can merge the rifle into the arm. A second angle helps show the stock, sling and the way the hand supports the weapon.

Keep the face visible and allow space above the helmet. The appeal of WS157 is its disciplined outline: a compact figure that can organize the edge of a scene and provide a still counterpart to the moving WS158.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived WS157 product record lists a release date of June 2010 and a retirement date of May 2012. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
