The Operation ToyBox catalog · DD231

DD231 joins a British commando and a fallen German sentry in one closely linked composition. The commando draws the other man backward, with the different uniforms and body positions making the manufacturer’s intended scene clear.

The title describes a fictional encounter

The archived announcement presents the aftermath of an attack on a sentry. It does not identify a named raid, location or actual pair of soldiers.

That distinction matters with a dramatic vignette. The miniature is a sculpted story within the range, not a photographic record of a documented incident.

The two bodies create the composition

The commando’s bent posture rises behind the lower German figure. The latter’s extended legs spread the scene along the ground, while the British figure’s head and shoulders give it height.

Brown and green clothing help separate the figures where their arms and torsos meet. A front-quarter view makes the relationship easier to read than a view directly behind the commando.

A different tone within the raiding group

DD232 and DD233 depict watchful kneeling commandos, while DD234 emphasizes a specialist weapon. DD231 moves from anticipation to the consequences of violence.

A historical display can record that difference without repeating the jokey wording of the old sales copy. The fallen figure remains a human part of the scene, rather than simply a missing accessory in an otherwise triumphant pose.

Keep the pair’s identity intact

The figures are designed around their interaction, so a photograph of only one side can obscure what the release contains. Document both uniforms and the extended lower body when assessing a complete example.

DD231 belongs in the D-Day catalog’s commando group as a distinct two-person narrative. Its close sculptural interaction and darker subject separate it from the anonymous riflemen around it.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived DD231 product record lists a release date of April 2014. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
