The Operation ToyBox catalog · DD220
DD220 carries his carbine across the body and keeps both hands close to it. The 82nd Airborne officer has no sweeping pointing gesture or conspicuous map; the portrait of command is quieter and more mobile.

The compact carbine suits the composition
The Airborne Museum’s carbine collection record shows the folding-stock M1A1 developed for paratroopers and its carrying cover. It offers a useful full-size comparison for the compact weapon shapes in this series.
The DD220 announcement identifies an officer carrying a carbine. The model can be cataloged accurately through that description without assigning him a named commander’s identity.
A command system assembled after landing
The 82nd’s Normandy report records headquarters groups moving and establishing command posts amid the scattered landings. That is a useful reminder that command depended on people finding one another and rebuilding connections.
A walking officer belongs to that larger story just as naturally as a general at a formal headquarters.
The visible details are close to the body
Straps, pouches and the carbine sit together across the torso. The turned head and slight step provide the movement, while the netted helmet and brown boots connect him with the other airborne releases.
A front-quarter angle lets the weapon remain separate from the chest equipment. It also makes the pose easier to distinguish from DD219’s longer-rifle figure.
A companion for the radioman
DD222’s radio operator creates a natural thematic pairing. One figure represents command and the other communication, with neither needing a large scenic base.
DD220 adds that quieter leadership role to the collection. His restrained posture allows the historical subject to emerge through the group around him rather than through an oversized gesture.
Release record and collecting notes
Sager’s archived DD220 product record lists a release date of August 2013 and a retirement date of September 2018. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
