The Operation ToyBox catalog · WS131

The PaK 40 dominates WS131, projecting far beyond the front of its halftrack hull. Three crewmen rise above the open compartment behind it, making the gun and its crew the unmistakable centre of the release.

The suffix tells you what changed

The model is identified as an Sd.Kfz.251/22 on an Ausf.D hull. This is the gun-carrying version, rather than a standard infantry carrier with a small defensive machine gun.

The large shield and long barrel change the familiar vehicle’s proportions. The front wheels and track units remain visible beneath an upper silhouette that is almost entirely about the anti-tank weapon.

A chronology point worth keeping with the model

The archived sales copy places the vehicle in Normandy. That campaign attribution should not be treated as established evidence for the /22 variant.

A reproduced U.S. Army Ordnance Technical Intelligence record dated 11 June 1945 documents examination of a captured example. The contemporary record is a useful closing-war reference; it does not verify the earlier Normandy claim. This catalog therefore leaves WS131’s exact campaign assignment open.

What makes this the summer version

The saved image shows a multi-colour camouflage finish, Wehrmacht markings and the prominent 300 hull number. The crew wear darker uniforms that separate them from the lighter vehicle paint.

The three supplied men are part of the collectible composition. Their number should not automatically be read as the full historical establishment of every real vehicle.

The barrel needs more room than the hull

A front-quarter view shows the distinctive combination of wheels, tracks, shield and crew. Leave space ahead of the muzzle when arranging the display or documenting it for sale.

WS131 broadens the halftrack story from transport to a substantial gun carrier. Its proportions make it memorable, while careful dating prevents a familiar summer camouflage scheme from becoming an unsupported campaign label.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived WS131 product record lists a release date of August 2009 and a retirement date of July 2011. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
