The Operation ToyBox catalog · WS134

WS134 has a long, narrow gun, six small road wheels along each side and a commander in the turret hatch. Its compact proportions offer a useful change from the larger Tigers and Panthers that often dominate a German armour collection.

A central tank in the earlier war

The Tank Museum’s Panzer III history describes the type as a principal German combat tank from mid-1940 to mid-1942. Successive versions received stronger armour and larger guns, while the chassis also supported the continuing development of the StuG III assault gun.

That history gives the medium tank an importance its smaller size can obscure. A retrospective of German armour needs these evolving designs as well as the later heavy vehicles.

The archive leaves the exact variant unspecified

King & Country’s short WS134 description identifies a Panzer III in mid-war camouflage and includes a vehicle commander. It does not name an Ausführung in that record.

The museum’s specific Ausf.L is useful for studying the wider family, but its individual specifications should not simply be transferred to this model without a matching release identification.

Details that reward a side view

  • The repeating line of six small road wheels beneath each track run.
  • The narrow barrel extending well beyond the hull.
  • The prominent 3 marking on the turret side.
  • The commander emerging from the upper hatch, adding a human scale reference.

A bridge between tank and assault-gun collections

Place WS134 near a Panzer I and a larger later tank to make the change in proportions easy to see. A StuG III adds another comparison through the history of the chassis family.

The camouflage breaks up the hull, while the turret and commander keep the upper half readable. WS134 earns its place as a recognizable medium tank with a substantial historical role, not merely a smaller neighbour for a Tiger.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived WS134 product record lists a release date of April 2010 and a retirement date of April 2011. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
