The Operation ToyBox catalog · DD206

The long implement in DD206’s hands gives the kneeling figure his particular artillery role. The bombardier looks upward, with his helmet and sleeve markings visible above the bent legs.

The rank belongs in the title

King & Country calls the figure a bombardier and describes him with a rammer. The release is an individual crew figure associated with the DD204 25-pounder group.

The original short description also uses the infantry-style rank word corporal. Retaining Bombardier in the catalog title preserves the Royal Artillery terminology chosen for the release.

An object changes the meaning of a pose

Without the rammer, the body could resemble many kneeling soldiers. With it, the figure becomes part of the work around a field gun.

The implement also extends beyond the compact body shape. It is worth keeping clear of nearby scenery so that the viewer can see what he holds rather than only his helmet and shoulders.

A low figure with an upward glance

The raised face makes a useful visual connection with DD205’s standing gun commander. Their different heights suggest an exchange across the artillery position without requiring exaggerated gestures from both men.

DD207 adds two more crew figures with ammunition components. Together, the releases create a group whose tasks are distinguished by the objects in their hands.

The gun is not included

DD206 can be shown beside the 25-pounder for context, but the weapon belongs to DD204. The tractor, limber and other crew are also separate releases.

That modular approach lets a collector build a scene gradually. It also makes complete reference photographs valuable when individual crew members have become separated from their original boxes.

DD206 belongs in the DD artillery collection because the rammer, rank and low pose add a distinct working role. He supplies detail that a gun model alone cannot show.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived DD206 product record lists a release date of July 2013 and a retirement date of March 2016. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
