The Operation ToyBox catalog · WS082

WS082 gathers three winter-clad soldiers around an MG42 on a substantial tripod. The gun’s horizontal line sits above a low group of crouching and kneeling figures, giving the scene a compact, grounded shape.

The mounting changes the composition

The archived description specifically identifies the fixed-firing tripod arrangement. It is visually different from a gun carried over a shoulder or supported in the shoulder-to-shoulder pose of WS051.

Those distinctions make the WS machine-gun releases interesting to compare. The weapon name may remain the same while the mounting and relationships between the figures produce a different miniature scene.

Winter clothing gives each man an outline

The saved image combines white helmet covers with darker caps and mixed cold-weather garments. One figure holds the gun position, while the companions carry equipment at lower heights beside him.

The different headgear helps identify the original trio when loose figures are mixed with other winter Germans. Similar snow bases alone are not enough to assign a figure to the set.

Leave the tripod visible

The mounting is a defining object in this release. Dense snow effects or a high foreground wall can conceal its legs and turn the scene into three heads above an indistinct barrier.

A low, open foreground lets the viewer see how the gun and figures occupy the same ground. The pale bases already provide a winter setting without demanding a large amount of additional scenery.

A useful winter comparison

The set belongs within the WS historical collection as one particular three-man gun team, rather than an interchangeable group of winter infantry.

Placed near a vehicle such as WS080, it offers a difference in scale and activity. Kept alone, the original tripod and three distinct figures are enough to explain the release’s identity.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived WS082 product record lists a release date of September 2006 and a retirement date of July 2009. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
