The Operation ToyBox catalog · WS062

WS062 brings four infantry figures down onto the sloping surfaces of a tank destroyer. Sitting, crouching and kneeling poses create an informal cluster that looks very different from the standing patrols elsewhere in the range.

The large vehicle is a display reference

The archived description identifies four separately offered SS riders. The Jagdpanther beneath them in the saved photograph demonstrates an arrangement; it is not a vehicle supplied under WS062.

This is an especially easy distinction to lose when an old product image is separated from its caption. The riders occupy only part of the frame, while the much larger vehicle can dominate a seller’s listing.

Transport becomes a human scene

The seated man at the edge extends the composition beyond the armour’s outline. The crouching figures follow its slope, and the differing head positions make the group appear occupied with the world around it.

The picture is a posed collecting arrangement, rather than evidence of a particular wartime journey. It nevertheless introduces a different subject from men firing or running: infantry being carried between places.

Three things to compare

  • The original group contains four distinct figures, not four copies of one passenger.
  • The bent legs and low postures distinguish these riders from upright crew portraits.
  • Their relationship to the vehicle should leave the driver’s and commander’s figures visible where those belong to the vehicle release.

Check the fit carefully before placing a loose metal figure on a painted vehicle. The reference shows a possible arrangement, not a promise that every rider fits every later model.

WS062 belongs in the catalog because accessory groups have collecting histories of their own. Its full code preserves that history even when the figures spend years sharing a shelf with WS059 or another vehicle.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived WS062 product record lists a release date of August 2004 and a retirement date of December 2008. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
