The Operation ToyBox catalog · WS058

Four men move in the same direction, but the weapons on their shoulders give each a different silhouette. WS058 revisits an earlier King & Country subject: a German patrol on the way to the fighting.

A small chapter in the range’s history

The original announcement explicitly compares this release with WS027, explaining that the new group came from a different sculptor. That makes WS058 more than another patrol number. It records the manufacturer returning to an established composition as the range developed.

For a retrospective display, photographs of the two original groups make a useful comparison. Look at the posture, spacing and carried equipment before assuming similar titles mean identical figures.

Read the silhouettes

  • The long MG42 creates a recognizable line above one man’s shoulder.
  • The Panzerfaust’s oversized head makes another figure easy to identify.
  • The remaining men carry their smaller weapons lower, breaking up the repeated shoulder line.

A technical correction belongs with the old description: the Panzerfaust was a recoilless antitank weapon, rather than a rocket launcher. The Ditsong museum’s account explains that distinction.

A patrol with room to breathe

A shallow diagonal arrangement lets the four profiles remain visible. Place them too close together and the weapons overlap into a single dark shape; leave a little space and the individual sculpts become much easier to appreciate.

WS058 belongs in the collection as a documented revision of a recognizable idea. Its Waffen-SS identity also connects it to the series’ wider historical account, including the organization’s crimes, rather than to an invented story about four named soldiers.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived WS058 product record lists a release date of July 2004 and a retirement date of December 2008. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
