The Operation ToyBox catalog · DD119

DD119 gives Montgomery the double-badged black beret and leather flying jerkin that made his wartime appearance so recognizable. The binoculars and relaxed standing posture create a portrait rather than an action figure.

British figure, Allied responsibility

The National Army Museum’s biography records Montgomery commanding the Allied ground forces for the Normandy invasion in June 1944.

The figure appears among Canadian releases in the numbering sequence, but that does not change his nationality. His position in the catalog reflects the connected Allied campaign.

The clothing does much of the identifying

The dark beret contrasts with the lighter trousers and warm-toned jerkin. The saved photograph shows a compact outline, with the hands and binoculars kept close to the body.

Those details distinguish this Normandy interpretation from other Montgomery figures wearing different uniforms or placed aboard vehicles.

A commander within a coalition

Montgomery’s role connects British, Canadian and American formations in the early campaign. That wider responsibility is more informative here than a simple personality label.

The miniature does not identify a particular inspection or reproduce an established dated photograph in the available product record.

Why this version belongs in the collection

DD119 gives a Normandy display a named command figure whose appearance can be compared with the anonymous infantry around him. It also helps a catalog explain why nationality and operational command are related but different categories.

Keep the full code with the beret-and-jerkin reference so that this single release remains distinguishable from the manufacturer’s other portraits of Monty.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived DD119 product record lists a release date of July 2009 and a retirement date of November 2012. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
