King & Country DD089 FFI Resistance Command Group: Civilian Clothing, Mixed Weapons and a Shared Cause

Three different activities

The archived set description identifies the Bren gunner, a fighter with a captured German stick grenade and a third man guarding the rear. Their different directions make the group more complex than a row of men all facing forward.

The mixed equipment is part of the release’s identity. It reflects the manufacturer’s representation of Resistance fighters drawing on different sources of arms.

The clothes help tell the story

Look at the changes in headgear, jackets and body positions across the photograph. The group retains a common purpose without relying on matching uniforms to connect the figures.

A street corner or low wall can give the composition a setting, but no named engagement is established by the release record.

Why Resistance figures belong in a D-Day catalog

The liberation of France involved people already living under occupation as well as forces arriving from abroad. DD089 gives that dimension a place in the collection and invites a broader view of the campaign than landing craft and beach assaults alone.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived DD089 product record lists a release date of February 2008 and a retirement date of May 2010. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
