The Operation ToyBox catalog · WH086

WH086 sets a single German soldier against a Polish border sign. The axe and the red-and-white post make the intended action clear, while the eagle emblem gives the object a national identity.

The code needs a small correction in the source

The archived page title identifies WH086, but its description begins with WH084. The two are separate releases: WH084 is the three-man barrier group, while this set shows the soldier with the sign.

The reference photograph resolves the subject without treating the copied code in the description as a second identity.

A boundary is more than scenery

The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum’s record of the German invasion dates the attack on Poland to 1 September 1939 and describes the destructive advance toward Warsaw.

Within that history, attacking a national border marker is a symbolic act as well as a physical one. It represents the violation of another country’s sovereignty, not an ordinary road-maintenance task.

Two objects explain the figure

Without the sign, the soldier becomes a man carrying an axe. Without the figure, the post becomes a general scenic accessory. The release’s meaning depends on their relationship.

A side angle that shows both the tool and the eagle keeps that relationship readable.

Why this separate entry matters

WH086 extends the Polish-border subjects in the WH catalog. Its own code helps distinguish it from the larger barrier scene and protects the original figure-and-sign combination.

Keep the national marker visible and accurately identified when displaying the set. It is the part that turns a generic action pose into a specific historical subject.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived WH086 product record lists a release date of April 2018 and a retirement date of August 2021. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
