The Operation ToyBox catalog · DD060

DD060 brings Canadian reconnaissance into the DD collection. The Staghound’s large wheels and rounded turret give it a substantial presence, while two crew figures look out from the top.

The unit matters more than the factory’s nationality

The release description identifies the 12th Manitoba Dragoons and two half-body crew figures. The Staghound was an American-built vehicle, but this model represents Canadian service.

That distinction is why the article belongs under Canadian subjects. Categorizing every American-built vehicle as an American military unit would lose the history carried by its markings.

Normandy after 6 June

The Canadian Department of National Defence’s regimental record dates the unit’s arrival in Normandy to 8–9 July 1944, followed by service across North-West Europe.

This is a useful reminder that the D-Day range extends beyond the first day’s landing. DD060 belongs to that wider campaign rather than a claim that this unit landed in the opening assault.

A wheeled comparison for the armour shelf

The four large tyres create a different outline from both a tracked tank and the six-wheeled M8 Greyhound. A clear side angle makes that contrast easy to see.

Leave the crew visible above the turret and avoid placing a tall scenic object directly behind their heads.

Why this release broadens the catalog

DD060 adds a specific Canadian unit to a range often discussed mainly through American and British subjects. Compare the crew complement, markings and visible fittings with the reference image when identifying an example; the vehicle name alone does not preserve this particular service identity.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived DD060 product record lists a release date of July 2005 and a retirement date of February 2008. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
