The Operation ToyBox catalog · AL048
A formation of mounted figures has a repeated shape: base, horse, rider, weapon. AL048 breaks that rhythm. Its riderless galloping horse supplies movement at a lower height, making the surrounding mounted subjects easier to separate visually.

The second horse is a separate release
The product description presents AL047 and AL048 as empty horses moving alongside their mounted companions. The two codes belong to individual catalog entries, so this is a useful place to be precise when searching listings or comparing a loose horse with an old box.
A number in a seller’s title can be mistaken, especially when several animal releases share similar names. I would compare the reference photograph closely before relying on the description “Galloping Horse #2.” The pose is part of the identity, not simply a decorative variation.
Remember the animal beyond the action
The bond between soldiers and their animals occupies an important place in wartime accounts. The Australian War Memorial’s “Candour” material places animal companionship alongside the broader human experience of the war. That perspective gives an empty-horse release more interest than treating it as interchangeable scenery.
A useful amount of uncertainty
The miniature does not tell us why the saddle is empty. That can be a strength if the display supplies a thoughtful context. Positioned near dismounted troops, it might suggest a horse separated during action; used with other moving animals, it can convey the confusion of a larger scene. Neither interpretation needs to be presented as a particular recorded incident.
I would keep the horse’s outline clear and avoid placing a tall figure immediately behind it. The open space is part of the design opportunity. AL048 earns its place by giving a collection another way to suggest motion, consequence and the animals’ independent presence.
Release record and collecting notes
Sager’s archived AL048 product record lists April 2013 as the release date and June 2016 as the retirement date. Those are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
