The Operation ToyBox catalog · WS345

Two men exchange Nazi salutes while four crewmen stand nearby. WS345 turns the meeting of Michael Wittmann and Jochen Peiper into a six-figure arrangement whose formality contrasts with the battle-worn tank offered separately as WS344.

The ceremony is part of a public image

The manufacturer presents the meeting as a propaganda-associated occasion. The salutes and attentive crew are therefore not incidental gestures; they help explain what kind of image the scene was intended to project.

The model does not independently verify the extensive combat claims repeated in its original sales narrative. A catalog entry can identify the participants and composition without treating those claims as an audited record.

Peiper’s later crimes belong in the context

The US Holocaust Memorial Museum’s Malmedy account records the murder of American prisoners by Kampfgruppe Peiper in December 1944 and Peiper’s subsequent war-crimes conviction. His role should not be reduced to a distinguished visitor in a tank-crew portrait.

Six men, no tank in this code

The set includes Wittmann, Peiper and four crewmen. Their black uniforms connect the group, while different caps and head positions distinguish the standing figures.

Leaving space between the two saluting men makes the central exchange legible. The four others can remain visible without being squeezed into a single overlapping row.

WS344 is the separate winter Tiger release associated with the scene. Its presence in a combined photograph does not change WS345’s contents.

The catalog value of WS345 lies in documenting this specific six-person interpretation and the political context of the ceremony. The figures are historical subjects to examine, not personalities to celebrate.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived WS345 product record lists a release date of November 2017 and a retirement date of May 2018. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
