The Operation ToyBox catalog · WS296

A tank turret usually suggests movement. WS296 turns that expectation upside down: the turret sits on concrete, creating a small fixed defensive position. The contrast between the angular metal top and the rounded bunker front is the attraction here.

Reusing what was available

The manufacturer describes the subject as an obsolete French FT turret adapted for a German coastal position, with an MG34 replacing the original French armament. It is a model of reuse: the tank has disappeared, but its protected weapon mounting remains useful.

The catalog associates this arrangement with Normandy. It does not identify this miniature as a measured reconstruction of a named surviving bunker, so a precise beach or numbered strongpoint should not be assigned without additional evidence.

Look beyond the turret

The concrete body has its own openings and a projecting rear section. Viewed from an angle, the shape reads as a compact fortification rather than a turret balanced on a simple block.

A ground-level photograph emphasizes the exposed firing position; a higher viewpoint reveals how little of the represented installation stands above its surroundings.

What the release contains

The product narrative describes a three-man bunker. That is a statement about the represented position’s staffing, not a promise of three miniature crewmen: the saved set photograph shows the scenic structure without figures.

WS296 offers a useful counterpoint to the complete Renault tanks elsewhere in the WS collection. A display can make that relationship visible without implying that a particular catalog tank was the actual donor. The appeal is the change of purpose, from mobile vehicle to fixed emplacement.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived WS296 product record lists a release date of February 2015 and a retirement date of May 2022. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
