The Operation ToyBox catalog · WS171
WS171 moves with his upper body bent forward and an MP40 carried low in one hand. The other arm reaches down as he steps, giving the figure a compressed, purposeful shape. He appears to be moving through a position rather than making a formal command gesture.

A different kind of officer pose
The release describes an officer of the Hitlerjugend division moving around defensive positions. His helmet covering and camouflage clothing connect him with the accompanying grenadiers, while the compact weapon keeps the action close to his body.
The low posture is the main identifying feature. It differs from the upright, pointing officer of the WS173 command pair and provides a useful transition between standing and prone figures.
The MP40 in the hand
The National Army Museum’s MP40 record places the weapon among the standard German submachine guns of the war. Its compact outline helps explain why it works visually with this close, crouched movement.
The old “Schmeisser” nickname appears in some release descriptions, but the catalog designation MP40 is the clearer term to retain. It connects the miniature to an identifiable historical object without assigning the officer a name or unsupported personal history.
Give him a route through the scene
Leave a small opening between the surrounding figures and point the officer through it. A prone signaling man nearby can make his movement feel connected to the rest of the position.
The camouflaged upper body can disappear against a heavily patterned backdrop, so a plain stretch of earth or a pale wall behind him helps the pose remain visible. For collecting, inspect the low-held weapon, hand and stepping legs rather than relying only on the helmet. WS171 adds movement at a human scale: an officer changing position among his men, with the wider 12th SS Normandy setting kept explicit in the collection record.
Release record and collecting notes
Sager’s archived WS171 product record lists a release date of September 2010 and a retirement date of September 2013. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
