The Operation ToyBox catalog · WS122

Three men move forward at different heights in WS122, their camouflage clothing interrupted by plain grey sleeves and trousers. The cautious, uneven line makes the group feel less like a parade of matching figures and more like three individuals sharing an uncertain direction.

The division name changes the context

The archived release identifies the men with the Hohenstaufen Division and suggests both Normandy and Arnhem settings. That is a different attribution from the Panzer Lehr halftrack sold nearby as WS121.

A shared release month does not make two sets members of the same formation. This small distinction is useful when building a historically organized collection.

Why Arnhem appears in the description

A National Army Museum photograph dated 18 September 1944 records captured SS Panzergrenadiers at Arnhem. Its collection notes explain that elements of the 9th and 10th SS Panzer Divisions were refitting in the area when the Allied airborne operation arrived.

The photograph supplies historical context, not a claim that these three sculpts reproduce its subjects. The release’s Hohenstaufen identity makes the Arnhem connection more specific than simply placing any German camouflage figure beside British paratroopers.

Three clothing combinations to compare

  • The upright man at the left wears a camouflage cap and patterned trousers with a plainer upper garment.
  • The middle rifleman combines a plain helmet and trousers with a patterned upper body.
  • The lower figure at the right bends farther forward, breaking the line of heads.

Let the group keep its uneven rhythm

A staggered arrangement preserves the different heights. Leave the lowest man visible near the foreground and let the two taller figures follow with enough room for their weapons to remain distinct.

WS122 adds a named divisional connection and a varied three-man composition to the WS historical catalog. Its collecting interest is strongest when those specific features remain attached to the code.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived WS122 product record lists a release date of September 2008 and a retirement date of February 2012. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
