The Operation ToyBox catalog · WS032

WS032 shows the eight-wheeled Sd.Kfz. 231 with its angular hull, small turret and two visible figures. The long, low body gives the vehicle a very different presence from the tracked tanks nearby in the WS sequence.

Eight wheels are part of the identity

The designation needs its eight-wheel qualification. Germany used more than one armoured-car layout, and the full title helps avoid confusing superficially related vehicles.

A wartime British Pocket Book on the German Army identifies the Sd.Kfz. 231 eight-wheeler with a four-man crew and a turret-mounted 2cm gun alongside a machine gun. That describes the full-size vehicle, not the number of miniature figures supplied.

The miniature’s angular shape

The saved image shows the sloping armour over the wheels and the compact turret above the hull. The figure at the hatch and the man standing beside it help explain its scale.

A low front-quarter view preserves the faceted body and the line of wheels together.

A reconnaissance subject within the collection

The WS catalog overview supplies the broader military context. This release adds an armoured-car subject to a range often remembered for its larger tanks.

The surviving short retailer record leaves production dates and a precise unit narrative unspecified.

Three armoured cars that are easy to separate

Start with the wheels, then move upward to the turret. WS032 has eight wheels and the compact turret of the Sd.Kfz. 231 represented here. A seller’s broad “German armoured car” title leaves out the details that matter when comparing models.

WS197 represents the Sd.Kfz. 234/1. It also has eight wheels, but its open turret gives it a different upper outline. Matching the wheel count alone would therefore produce a poor identification. Compare the turret opening, hull shape and complete designation together.

WS209 is the gray Sd.Kfz. 222, with four wheels and a distinctive mesh structure above the turret. It offers a visibly different shape for a reconnaissance display. These are useful comparisons within the collection, rather than interchangeable versions of WS032.

When assessing a WS032 listing, ask for both sides and a view of the turret area. The saved reference photograph shows a figure at the hatch and another beside the vehicle; establish which figures the seller is actually including. The four-man crew of the historical vehicle does not establish the contents of the miniature set.

For display photography, try one image at approximately wheel height and another from slightly above. The first explains the long hull and four axles; the second makes the turret and accompanying figures easier to understand. Together they give a reader more information than several nearly identical front views.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived WS032 product record identifies this release but leaves its release and retirement dates blank. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
