King & Country WH072 Death in Berlin: A City Marker at the End of the War

From invasion to defeat

The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum’s wartime film overview places the European war between Germany’s invasion of Poland in 1939 and Allied victory in May 1945.

Within a collection, WH072 can serve as a final point in that chronology. The death shown by the model should remain part of the consequences of the war, rather than a decorative accessory to a triumphant military display.

A small scene that needs little scenery

The large lettering already provides a strong background. Additional walls or signs can compete with it and obscure the relationship between the city marker and the figure.

A clear front-quarter view shows the casualty’s full pose while leaving the place name readable.

Why the complete pairing belongs in the catalog

Separating the marker from the soldier removes much of the release’s intended meaning. Record the two elements together and compare both when identifying an example.

WH072 earns its place through that concentrated historical association: a location, an ending and the cost represented by one anonymous figure.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived WH072 product record lists a release date of May 2017 and a retirement date of February 2020. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability.
