The Operation ToyBox catalog · DD399

The officer advances with a compact carbine held ready across the front of his body. DD399 gives the American Patrol collection a commissioned leader whose outline differs from the Thompson-bearing sergeant.

The carbine is the identifying detail

The release title and description establish the officer’s rank and weapon. The miniature’s relatively upright stance keeps both face and carbine easy to see.

That combination is more useful for catalog matching than a broad description such as “American officer.” Several figures can share similar uniforms while carrying different equipment.

A platoon leader is not a second squad sergeant

The lieutenant and sergeant can share a scene without being treated as interchangeable ranks. A display might place the officer near the radioman while the sergeant faces the moving riflemen.

This is a compositional suggestion, not a claim that the eight released figures form an exact wartime table of organization.

Leave the conversation implied

A small gap between the officer and nearby men allows his forward posture to read as movement. Pressing every figure into one tight cluster can make the patrol look like a posed group photograph.

The August 2026 release does not give the lieutenant a personal name. His identity remains the documented rank, carbine and divisional presentation.

DD399 adds a command role to the catalog without relying on a famous personality. It is useful for scenes where the focus is on a small group of infantry moving and communicating together, rather than on an individually celebrated commander.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived DD399 product record lists a release date of August 2026. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
