King & Country DD389 Happy Liberation: A Tanker’s Welcome in a Two-Person Embrace

The interaction is the whole composition

The woman’s blue patterned dress contrasts with the tanker’s olive clothing. Their arms bind the two figures together visually, leaving little need for additional action around them.

The manufacturer presents the pair as a warm welcome for an arriving American tanker. They are unnamed, and the sculpt is not identified as a copy of one particular photograph.

Let the pair remain the focus

A tank nearby can establish the soldier’s role, but placing the couple directly against its hull may hide the embrace. A little open pavement gives the figures room to read.

The June 2024 release belongs with both American support personnel and French civilians, making both national categories useful in the catalog.

DD389 contributes a close human interaction to a range often dominated by vehicles and weapons. Its collecting appeal is the contrast between the tanker’s military clothing and the civilian welcome, expressed through a scene that is complete in itself.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived DD389 product record lists a release date of June 2024. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability.
