The Operation ToyBox catalog · DD273
With a Thompson raised beside one shoulder and the other arm set at his waist, DD273 looks as though he has already heard every excuse his squad can offer. The character is immediate, even though the release is not presented as a portrait of one named historical sergeant.
A composite with a clear screen ancestry
The manufacturer connects The Sarge with the familiar American noncommissioned officer in war films and television, mentioning Sgt. Horvath in Saving Private Ryan and Sgt. Saunders in Combat! as examples.
Those references describe the inspiration. They do not turn the figure into a formally identified miniature of either character. The title leaves room for the broader tribute to fictional sergeants and the real NCOs behind that screen tradition.
The hands do different jobs
The weapon gives the upper body height and a strong dark outline. The hand at the waist supplies the attitude: this is a man watching and waiting rather than firing or charging.
That combination makes the pose useful beside more active infantry. His attention can appear directed toward the men around him, giving a group a focal personality without adding another horizontal rifle barrel.
A small film collection inside the military catalog
Nearby DD releases make other connections with war cinema. DD275 portrays Dale Dye during weapons instruction for a film production, while DD262’s WarDaddy belongs to the Fury theme.
The Sarge occupies a different position in that company. He represents a recognizable type rather than a named actor, adviser or single screen character. Keeping those distinctions visible makes a film-themed display more interesting to discuss.
For identification, compare the raised Thompson, helmet and hand-at-waist stance with the reference image. DD273 brings personality to the infantry shelf through a familiar attitude, with the catalog’s own explanation supplying the link between military service and its screen interpretation.
Release record and collecting notes
Sager’s archived DD273 product record lists a release date of November 2015 and a retirement date of August 2018. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
