The Operation ToyBox catalog · DD263-2
The Thompson-carrying trooper holds his position beneath an impressive amount of gear. DD263-2 is the 101st Airborne counterpart to the 82nd version, with the division’s shoulder patch providing the key distinction.
The familiar airborne story has a quiet opening
A Library of Congress photograph record identifies men of Company E, 502nd Parachute Infantry Regiment, meeting Eisenhower at Greenham Common on the evening of 5 June 1944. It is a useful historical reference for the world of waiting, equipment and brief conversations before departure.
DD263-2 is not identified as one of those photographed individuals. It offers an anonymous trooper for that broader pre-invasion setting.
Read the figure from helmet to boots
The packed front of the body changes the outline of the torso. Straps and bags continue down toward the legs, so the visual story is as much about carrying equipment as carrying a weapon.
A slightly turned display position helps reveal the shoulder patch and the layered gear. Facing every figure directly forward can hide the small feature that separates the two divisional versions.
Use the complete code when comparing
The final -2 is meaningful here. A photograph showing the code on a box is useful, but a close view of the figure should confirm the intended 101st presentation as well.
Introduced in July 2015, this release belongs with the range’s preparation and embarkation subjects. It gives the cabinet a moment before the jump, when the equipment is still attached and the battlefield remains an unknown destination.
Release record and collecting notes
Sager’s archived DD263-2 product record lists a release date of July 2015 and a retirement date of August 2018. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
