The Operation ToyBox catalog · DD256
The corporal in DD256 leans forward with his Thompson held low across the body. A wool cap, pale webbing and the bent stance give him a different silhouette from the helmeted American gunner carrying the same broad weapon type elsewhere in the DD catalog.

The rank and posture supply the character
The release description identifies a corporal moving cautiously forward. His head follows the direction of travel while the leading leg and angled torso make the whole figure appear committed to the next step.
The manufacturer suggests he might be approaching an enemy sentry. That is one possible reading of the pose, rather than a named historical encounter attached to the set.
The pale straps divide the brown uniform into clear shapes. Dark boots and the Thompson add stronger blocks at the lower and middle parts of the figure.
The raiding force had a wider history than its weapons
The National Army Museum’s account of special-force origins traces the Commandos from volunteers drawn from existing regiments after the fall of France. Training and the intended raiding role helped define the new force.
DD256 expresses that subject through a small individual action. The figure is not a complete description of commando operations, but its clothing, carried weapon and cautious movement make a recognizable collecting interpretation.
A moving figure needs room ahead
A wall corner or a low shoreline can suggest something beyond his view. Leave a clear gap in front of the weapon and forward foot so the movement remains readable.
DD257’s crouching officer and DD260’s quiet-warning gesture provide related poses at different heights. Together they can make a small group feel attentive without placing every figure in a firing position.
DD256 contributes the advancing corporal to that selection. The low Thompson and forward lean are the key details to compare when identifying a loose example, especially beside other brown-uniformed commando releases.
Release record and collecting notes
Sager’s archived DD256 product record lists a release date of June 2015. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
