The Operation ToyBox catalog · DD139
DD139 holds his binoculars at chest level, ready for another look. His blue windcheater and USN-marked helmet distinguish him immediately from the Army infantry surrounding many D-Day displays.

A sailor’s view of the invasion
The archived description identifies lookout duty. That simple role gives the figure a different focus from men climbing out of a landing craft: he is watching the space around the operation.
The Navy’s official account of the Neptune assaults emphasizes the landing-craft crews alongside the soldiers they delivered and the ships supporting them. The sea crossing and the beach assault were connected parts of the same undertaking.
The binoculars are lowered
The saved photograph shows the instrument held below the face. That leaves the sailor’s expression visible and creates a pause between moments of observation.
It also allows several possible display relationships. He might look across an open stretch of water or toward activity beside a craft without requiring another figure to stand directly in front of him.
Blue among the olive uniforms
The jacket adds a strong colour accent to a shore scene. The plainer trousers, helmet lettering and compact square base help distinguish this release from the other separately sold sailors.
Place him where his upper body can be seen. A tall hull immediately in front may hide the binoculars and remove the visual clue to his job.
A small figure that widens the story
DD139 belongs in the catalog because the invasion depended on people watching, communicating and handling craft as well as advancing inland. The release supplies one sailor; a landing craft or observation platform would be a separate display element. Its restrained pose makes it a useful contrast with the more animated naval figures nearby.
Release record and collecting notes
Sager’s archived DD139 product record lists a release date of July 2010 and a retirement date of April 2012. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
