King & Country AL097 Australian Light Horse Trooper Charging with Bayonet: The Forward Bayonet Returns

The edition matters when the pose is familiar

The release announcement explains that the later mounted figures use changed horse colours to distinguish them from the earlier versions. A collector comparing AL097 with the early bayonet-forward subjects should therefore look at the mount as carefully as at the arm and weapon.

This is also why a comprehensive inventory needs the specific code. A familiar pose can survive across releases while the edition details change.

Give the point somewhere to go

I would keep a clear stretch of space ahead of the bayonet, both to protect the projecting detail and to make the direction of movement legible. A figure immediately against the weapon can create a cramped display even when the intended scene is close combat.

The set works as the leading edge of a small mounted group or as an individual study of the range’s dramatic style. For collectors who missed the early releases, it offered another way into that familiar image; for those comparing editions, it adds a distinct code and finish to document alongside the originals.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived AL097 product record lists October 2017 as the release date and July 2021 as the retirement date. Those are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
