The Operation ToyBox catalog · AL082
AL082 brings an Ottoman rifleman down to a kneeling firing position, with the bayonet fixed. The pose is a useful middle height between the range’s standing men and its prone subjects, giving a small defensive group more variation.
The bayonet extends the footprint
The product description explicitly identifies the fixed bayonet. That means the figure needs space beyond the length of the rifle alone. I would keep the weapon clear of adjacent bases and horse legs, allowing its full line to remain visible.
In a secondhand listing, the projecting equipment is also one of the first things to compare with the reference image. A small distant photograph may show the general pose while concealing a shortened or repaired tip.
A posture that relates to terrain
A kneeling figure can suggest a man making use of low cover, but the scenery should fit the actual height of the weapon. Place a wall too high in front and the implied line of fire disappears. A shallow bank or an open edge can work with much less effort.
The NZ History account of the fighting around Beersheba provides a wider historical setting for the Ottoman defenders. AL082 is a representative figure that can help illustrate that setting, without requiring a claim about a particular trench or individual soldier.
Why one kneeling rifleman makes a difference
Mixed heights give the eye a route through a group. AL082 can sit forward of a standing figure while remaining higher than AL070’s prone subject, making a small number of miniatures appear less repetitive.
Its role in the collection is practical and clear: another recognizable stage and posture within the infantry line. The full code keeps that useful distinction intact when comparing the range’s similarly named riflemen.
Release record and collecting notes
Sager’s archived AL082 product record lists March 2017 as the release date and July 2021 as the retirement date. Those are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
