The covered fez, bandolier and blue puttees give this Egyptian sergeant a distinctive appearance. His standing pose is useful for studying a desert-service uniform without allowing the animal to dominate the subject.
Keep the corps identity separate
The retailer identifies a sergeant of the Egyptian Army’s camel corps in 1915. That is not the same label as the later Imperial Camel Corps subjects often found in Australian and British collections. A camel-related role also does not make the figure an Arab irregular or a portrait of T. E. Lawrence. The exact army named in the reference is the safest starting point.
The clothing creates the contrast
The light shirt and shorts sit above darker wrapped lower legs, while the bandolier crosses the torso diagonally. The head covering combines a fez shape with protective cloth, giving a different outline from the slouch hats and peaked caps elsewhere in the range. The upright rifle adds a straight edge to the composition. A side view makes the equipment easier to distinguish from the straps across the chest.
Use a precise caption to improve the display
This is a good figure for a small study of different forces operating around Egypt and the Middle East. Separate national and corps labels are essential; similar terrain did not produce identical military organisations. Inspect the rifle, head covering, bandolier detail and base before buying. A broad “desert soldier” listing may contain the right miniature, but the collection record should retain Egyptian Army, sergeant and 1915. Those details give the model its historical value.
