The Operation ToyBox catalog · WS001G

A standing officer looks over two prone gun crewmen, their equipment spread close to the ground. The glossy finish and bright green bases make WS001G immediately different in character from the muted battlefield figures elsewhere in this catalog.

Look at the group from ground level

The officer supplies the height; the gun and its two attendants supply the horizontal movement. Together they make a small scene that reads clearly without a ruined building or a large terrain base.

There are three figures in the reference photograph. The tripod-mounted weapon and ammunition equipment are important parts of the arrangement, so an isolated officer does not convey the complete set.

A collecting retrospective in miniature

The gloss surface is central to this release’s appeal. Light catches the folds of the uniforms and the rounded helmets, emphasizing the figures as painted toy soldiers. It invites a different kind of display from a heavily weathered battlefield tableau.

On a plain shelf, the green bases become a shared stage. Beside later matt figures, the group makes an interesting visual comparison of painting approaches. That comparison should not be mistaken for a precise manufacturing chronology: the linked archive gives no release year.

Keep the G in the identification

The archive explicitly identifies this version as gloss. When searching, retain WS001G and inspect the finish instead of treating every WS001 listing as interchangeable.

My preferred display angle would keep the standing officer behind the weapon without concealing either prone figure. A slightly raised view also makes the gun mounting easier to see. The interest here is the relationship between the three figures and their shared equipment, all expressed through a distinctly traditional painted finish.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived WS001G product record identifies this release but leaves its release and retirement dates blank. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
