The Operation ToyBox catalog · WS391
One man points into the distance while his companion holds a rifle across his body. WS391 is a two-person exchange in which an empty space outside the image becomes part of the story.
The viewer supplies the unseen object
The title does not say what the men have noticed. It could be interpreted as a direction, terrain feature or movement, but none of those possibilities is documented as the single intended historical incident.
The useful fact is the relationship: one figure indicates something and the other can be read as attending to it.
The extended arm sets the width
The pointing figure occupies more horizontal space than his stance alone suggests. His arm should remain clear of nearby walls or other figures if the gesture is to be legible.
The companion’s lower rifle angle keeps the front of his body visible. Rolled sleeves, patterned clothing and chest equipment offer further details to compare in the reference.
Communication gives a group variety
Placed among figures all aiming their weapons, the pair can be easy to overlook. Given a small open area, the shared attention becomes a focal point of its own.
WS365 is a separate one-man signaling subject; WS391 contains this particular two-figure interaction. The two releases should not be combined under a general leader-and-rifleman label.
The men are anonymous subjects in the WS catalog. Their poses do not establish personal histories or a precise military event.
A collecting photograph should show the complete pointing arm and the companion’s full rifle. Both figures are needed to preserve the original pair, whose appeal comes from the conversation implied by a single clear gesture.
Release record and collecting notes
Sager’s archived WS391 product record lists a release date of September 2023. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
