The Operation ToyBox catalog · WS238

WS238 does not use the familiar upright, arm-back grenade-throwing pose. The soldier is folded low over the ground, with one hand down and another grenade already visible in the other. King & Country describes the first throw as having just happened.

The title tells a sequence

The sculpt captures an interval in the action. The first grenade is no longer part of the visible scene, while the second remains in the figure’s hand.

That distinction makes the release more interesting than a generic label of soldier with grenade. The bent body and lowered hand give the movement a particular stage without requiring the viewer to see the earlier action.

The rifle is part of the composition too

The weapon lies along the base rather than occupying both hands. It helps explain why this figure’s outline differs so sharply from the prone riflemen in the same infantry group.

The body forms a compact shape above the groundwork, while the rifle introduces a longer horizontal line. Those two shapes are useful identification details in a small photograph.

An action pose that stays low

Placed near WS239’s prone officer or WS241’s machine gunner, the grenadier contributes a different posture while retaining the group’s low profile. His body rises above the completely prone figures without becoming a fully standing centerpiece.

The release description does not identify a particular assault or unit. Its historical subject remains an anonymous infantry action, rather than a reconstruction of a named soldier’s exploit.

WS238 belongs in the collection because of its unusual timing. The pose asks the viewer to imagine the movement immediately before the sculpted moment, using the remaining grenade and grounded body as clues.

A clear side-quarter photograph should show the hand, low torso and rifle on the base together; losing any one of those details makes the figure’s action harder to read.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived WS238 product record lists a release date of October 2013. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
