King & Country AL058 Camel Field Ambulance: Two Litters Above a Kneeling Camel

What a cacolet was doing in the desert

The Australian War Memorial’s photograph of a 2nd Light Horse Field Ambulance cacolet identifies its purpose: transporting seriously ill and wounded men across desert and roads that vehicles could not use. The unusual arrangement was an answer to a practical problem.

King & Country shows the camel crouched, allowing the litters and patients to sit low enough for the surrounding medical figures to interact with them. The two casualties are part of this reference scene; nearby medics are separate releases.

Build the care scene around the patients

AL061’s kneeling medic was specifically described as a companion offering water to the camel-borne wounded. Other medical figures can complete the group, but keep both litters visible so the transport arrangement remains clear.

The side structures, patients and camel form the important completeness checks in a loose set. A head-on photograph can conceal one entire litter, so request a second angle when comparing examples. AL058 expands the collection’s historical range by giving medical transport the same attention normally reserved for a charge, a commander or a gun.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived AL058 product record lists a release date of November 2013 and a retirement date of September 2015. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
