The Operation ToyBox catalog · DD262
DD262 stands bareheaded with his arms behind his back, a dark vest over a pale shirt and a pistol holster visible at the waist. The manufacturer’s WarDaddy title places the figure in the film-inspired branch of the Sherman collection.
The film gives the name its familiar setting
Sony Pictures’ synopsis of Fury identifies Wardaddy, played by Brad Pitt, as the sergeant commanding a Sherman and its crew in April 1945. The film was released in 2014, before this figure’s June 2015 catalog appearance.
The miniature is best read as a screen-inspired commander. Its name and appearance do not establish a portrait of a documented real-life tank commander with the same nickname.
The arms leave the clothing unobstructed
With the hands behind the body, the vest, shirt sleeves and belt remain clear across the front. The bare head gives the figure a different profile from crewmen wearing helmets or tanker headgear.
The quiet stance also changes the mood. He is not looking out of a hatch or directing a gun; the sculpt invites a closer look at the character while standing at ground level.
A side-quarter photograph helps show the arms and the holster. A full-length view preserves the relationship between the dark upper garment and the browner trousers and boots.
A different film from Oddball’s
DD261’s Oddball Sherman belongs to the Kelly’s Heroes theme, while WarDaddy recalls Fury. Their nearby catalog numbers do not put them in the same fictional crew.
That distinction gives a collector an interesting comparison between two eras of war cinema and two very different approaches to the Sherman commander as a character.
DD262 works beside a vehicle or as a separate portrait in a film-themed group. Its contribution to the catalog is the recognizable name, bareheaded stance and distinctive clothing combination, with the cinematic setting kept attached to the figure.
Release record and collecting notes
Sager’s archived DD262 product record lists a release date of June 2015 and a retirement date of March 2022. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
