The Operation ToyBox catalog · WS154
WS154 presents Hans Weiss standing in black Panzer uniform, his right hand raised to a peaked cap. The compact salute and largely unbroken dark clothing make this a portrait figure whose identity depends on the catalog name as well as the sculpt.

A photograph gives the name a historical anchor
A German Federal Archives photograph reproduced on Wikimedia Commons identifies Hans Weiß among Waffen-SS officers receiving decorations in the Soviet Union in April 1943. Its archive reference is Bild 101III-Zschaeckel-197-32.
That record establishes a period setting for the named subject. It does not establish that the miniature reproduces this particular ceremony, and the figure’s salute should not be assigned to an event solely because a surviving photograph exists.
The portrait is built from a restrained outline
The raised forearm creates a clear angle beside the cap. The other arm stays low, leaving the front of the jacket and its small painted details visible.
Black trousers continue the uniform down toward the boots, with the belt supplying a warmer horizontal line. A slightly lighter background helps separate the clothing from the silhouette when photographing the figure.
Read the promotional title critically
The original sales description emphasizes a tank commander’s reputation. A historical catalog can identify the Waffen-SS subject without turning a promotional epithet into a complete biography or an independently verified combat record.
The WS series retrospective provides the wider institutional and wartime context. Here the focus is the specific named release, its pose and the evidence connecting its subject to the period.
A portrait needs room around the face
Place the figure where a vehicle turret or another man’s shoulder will not hide the salute. He can anchor a small group of crew figures, although a nearby tank should not automatically be labelled as his personal vehicle.
WS154’s contribution is a named individual amid the anonymous guards and working crewmen of the 2010 sequence. Keeping the name, rank and source record together makes that distinction useful.
Release record and collecting notes
Sager’s archived WS154 product record lists a release date of June 2010 and a retirement date of May 2012. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
