The Operation ToyBox catalog · WS147

The man in WS147 stands beside his horse instead of above it. That simple change makes the animal’s height and the rider’s equipment much easier to compare, while giving the cavalry group a pause at ground level.

The original scene is an inspection wait

The release announcement describes a young Cossack awaiting inspection. The figure holds the horse near its head, with both man and animal facing into the same compact arrangement.

No inspecting officer is included. WS143 or WS150 can supply a separate thematic companion, but the pair here already forms a complete release.

A horse brings its own equipment

The saddle, blanket and rolled gear remain conspicuous when the rider is no longer sitting over them. Brown leather and the animal’s coat make a broader area of warm colour behind the man’s green jacket and blue trousers.

The Bundesarchiv’s horse-service collection includes wartime care and veterinary documents as well as cavalry photographs. It is a useful reminder that keeping horses required work beyond the moments shown on patrol.

The man and animal need separate views

From one angle the horse can hide much of the figure. From another, the man obscures the saddle equipment. A front-quarter view usually offers the clearest balance between them.

The horse’s walking-looking leg position and the man’s upright stance provide a little movement without turning the scene into an advance.

A different height within the group

WS147 can break up a row of mounted figures, making the riders around him look more noticeably elevated. He also gives the group a reason to gather rather than simply travel.

The release belongs to the German-service Cossack sequence. Its distinctive contribution is the dismounted relationship between one man and his equipped horse, with the inspection theme supplying a restrained narrative.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived WS147 product record lists a release date of April 2010 and a retirement date of January 2012. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
