The Operation ToyBox catalog · WS146

WS146 combines a dark horse with a rider looking left and a rifle laid across the front of the saddle. The horizontal weapon gives him a different outline from WS145’s upright-rifle figure.

A companion with its own identity

The shared Cossack Holding Rifle title can obscure the difference between the two releases. The manufacturer’s description explicitly identifies WS146 as the left-looking patrol member.

The saved photograph adds the dark mount, lowered horizontal weapon and walking leg position. Together those details make the code recognizable without relying only on the box.

The saddle divides the colours

Brown leather equipment sits between the rider’s green jacket and the horse’s dark coat. Blue trousers and red accents introduce stronger colour around the upper legs.

The horse’s lifted foreleg opens a small space beneath the chest. A side-quarter view preserves that movement and keeps the rifle clear of the rider’s torso.

The occupation setting remains part of the subject

These are King & Country’s German-service Cossacks. Historian Peter Pirker’s comments on their contested remembrance stress that accounts of their later suffering must also acknowledge the forces’ involvement in crimes against civilians.

This anonymous rider is not assigned a specific act. The broader history belongs with the group so that its appealing mounted appearance does not become the whole account.

Use the contrast with WS145

The lighter and darker horses help a small patrol avoid a uniform block of colour. Their riders also look in opposing directions and carry their rifles differently.

WS146 belongs as the left-looking, cross-saddle-rifle release. Keeping those visual distinctions and the German-service setting attached to the code makes the catalog useful for both identification and historical display planning.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived WS146 product record lists a release date of April 2010 and a retirement date of January 2012. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
