The Operation ToyBox catalog · WS144

WS144 sets up an immediate contrast: the rider raises a hand to scan the distance while his horse lowers its head toward the ground. The two directions make this one of the more characterful mounted figures in the Cossack group.

Observation supplies the movement

The release identifies a scout watching for enemy activity. The man’s elevated hand and forward attention carry that idea without a charging horse or a raised weapon.

The horse’s lowered neck creates an opposing line. The sculpt makes the animal an active part of the composition rather than merely a stand beneath the rider.

Mounted service remained visible in 1944

The Bundesarchiv’s wartime horse gallery includes Cossack cavalry on the march in 1944 and 1945. Those photographs provide a period comparison for mounted men and their equipment.

WS144 belongs to King & Country’s German-service Cossacks. The brief product description does not identify a particular scout or location.

The lowered head changes the footprint

The horse reaches forward beyond the rider’s upright body. Its head needs clear space near the base’s front, especially if another mounted figure is placed nearby.

Brown leather equipment gathers around the saddle, while the rider’s blue trouser areas and red accents add colour above it. A side view reveals both the hand gesture and the horse’s distinctive neck position.

A pause within the patrol

WS145 and WS146 present rifle-carrying riders with different directions of attention. WS144 offers a more pronounced lookout gesture and an animal occupied with the ground.

That contrast is the reason to keep this release separately identified. It contributes observation and a memorable horse pose to the collection, with the historical allegiance recorded alongside the attractive sculptural interaction.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived WS144 product record lists a release date of April 2010 and a retirement date of January 2012. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
